Depictions of horned Lizards have been found on ancient petroglyphs and pottery because they are symbols of strength and healing. Indigenous Pima People believe horned lizards can heal if respect is shown to the reptile's strength. They sing traditional songs that honor the lizard's natural behaviors to help a sick person get strong. A horned lizard carving may even be placed on an afflicted person's body during the ceremony. Bernie Laselute's tiny turquoise horned lizard has jet eyes and measures approximately 1 1/4" long, 3/4" wide and 1/2" tall.
