Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez's small Corn-Maiden is carved from attractive apple coral, a species of sponge coral that grows in the waters of the western Pacific Ocean. Whorled hair signifies she hasn't had children. Facial features are from overlaid iridescent gold lip shell accented with jet paste. Approximately 1 3/8" tall, 5/8" wide and 1/2" deep. Kateri said her first carving as a young 10-year old was a Corn Maiden.
