Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez is well-known for carving
Corn-Maidens, Mothers, Maiden Grandmothers and Grandmother fetishes. Kateri's aunt the late Faye Quandelacy was the first to carve Corn Maidens in small, table top form in the early 1980's, spawning a family tradition. Kateri's tiny Corn Maiden from angelite has an overlaid gold lip shell face, etched and filled with jet paste. A turquoise cabochon adorns her shawl. About 1 3/8" tall, 3/4" wide and 5/8" deep.
