Swiss opal is the trade name for a variety of gem-quality chrysotile in serpentine. It is mined in countries like Brazil and Canada. Stewart Quandelacy and Priscilla Lasiloo Quandelacy's turquoise-eyed Medicine-Bear has been sculpted from Swiss opal to a size of approximately 1 7/8" long, 1/4" wide and 1 3/4" tall. The gorgeous horizontal features in the mineral are woken up by the colorful alternating heartline or breath path inlaid from sky blue turquoise. Bears enter torpor to rest and recuperate setting an example for us to make quality sleep and taking breaks from stress a priority.
