Stone to stone jewelry inlay is a celebrated Zuni art form where stones and other materials create the design, requiring great mastery in stone and metal. Longtime silversmith Duran Gasper is accomplished in these jewelry skills. He has an understanding of how stones act, cut and polish, of the intricacy involved in fittings and a finesse in tool use. Created with sterling silver, Duran's Zuni Sunface pendant hosts colorful turquoise, magnesite, spotted red jasper and jet beautifully set and accented by a wonderful spiral element which gives an illusion of movement, perhaps representing life's journey or migration. Including the nice bale, measurements of this signed by the artist pendant are approximately 2 5/8" long, 1/2" wide and 1/8" deep.
