Lynn Quam descends from the late Johnny Quam and Westika family of wonderful Zuni artists. His siblings include the late carvers Rhoda Quam and Pernell Gasper, as well as jeweler Nancy Westika. Their mother was noted jeweler Annie Gasper Quam who also learned to make fetishes from her father Johnny Quam. Smoothly sculpted from a rich cuprite, this turquoise-eyed Medicine-Bear is inlaid with a Zuni Sunface symbol which represents the elements in balance. Sky blue turquoise, jet and luscious pipestone are set stone to stone on either side of this approximately 3 3/4" long, 1 1/4" wide and 2 1/2" tall stunning carving.
