Stormy Wind Raven

By Salvador Romero, Cochiti

Animal: Raven, Material: Found Stone
This offering is sold.

Bellowing thunder and ominous, grey gloomy clouds congregate above a parched tumbleweed landscape as a Raven (or crow) friend embraces the tempestuous wind, urgently and gracefully flying to the safety of a dense conifer forest up ahead. When it gets there, it will hunker down and conserve energy for the next foraging trip when the weather is better. Raven's dark appearance and scavenging nature have led to negative associations when in fact these exquisite beings are ultra-intelligent and important beneficial birds in Indigenous oral traditions. Salvador Romero's swift corvid is sculpted from found stone to a generous size of approximately 7 1/2" long, 2 1/4" wide and 1 1/2" tall. The unusual shaping makes it a collector's item.
