Silly Monster

By Ray Tsalate

Animal: Monster, Material: Antler
This offering is sold.

Visionary genius Ray Tsalate has been carving for 10 years now having started as an apprentice for Troy Sice doing inlay work for him. These days his original pieces are collected the world over for their freshness and innovativeness in design plus stellar workmanship. Ray told us he's "an open book" and having been a potter before an animal carver, that knowledge has helped him in the interpretation of his work.

Hearts be still as we fall in love with Ray's silly monster whimsically sculpted from antler, in a continuation of the popular monster series he's created for Keshi. Colorful blue fur covers a full-figured body, achieved through intricate etching filled with lapis paste. Ear horns are from iridescent abalone, little fangs are from mother-of-pearl and an angel skin coral tongue makes a funny face with wild eyes from pipestone, pen shell and gold lip shell. Dimensions of this collectible, museum-quality artwork are approximately 4 3/4" tall, 4 1/2" wide and 1 7/8" deep.
