Water engineer Beavers are rock stars in a west London neighborhood where constant flooding was wreaking havoc. After the species was driven to extinction in London about 400 years ago, in 2023 a family of five beavers was reintroduced to a 24-acre site where their dams transformed the area into a sponge-like wetland successfully mitigating flooding. The happy community has even promoted "beaver safaris" to show off the hardworking heroes to visitors and to teach that it is good to live alongside them as Indigenous cultures have always known. Take care of wildlife and they'll take care of you.
