Where would we be without water?
Frogs are an important sign of water because without it they could not survive. In Zuni traditional ways, frogs often appear on prayer bowls and dances are given asking for water in the form of rain or snow. They’re considered a major rain-bringing fetish, associated with abundance, fertility and cleansing. Eddington Hannaweeke's charming amphibian has been carved from a striped and lightly speckled serpentine. A broad smile and precious eyes that look to the sky for rain are from pen shell in gold lip shell inlays. About 1 1/2" long, 1 1/4" wide and 1" tall.
