Turkeys have been an important part of Indigenous cultures throughout time. Ancient turkey bones have been discovered in caves and other places in the great Southwest. Puebloans have raised turkeys for over a thousand years. Their feathers are respected, used ceremonially and in offerings. Derrick Kaamasee carves beautiful Turkeys like this fish rock serpentine one. Its plumage is amazing and three long toes provide balance as it perches on a rock. Turquoise eyes are inlaid. Measurements of this wild bird are approximately 2 3/4" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 2 5/8" long.
