Perched Conifer Owl

By Troy Sice

Animal: Owl, Material: Antler
This offering is sold.
A coniferous forest finds Troy Sice's Owl roosting on a branch next to the trunk of a tall tree. Owls prefer to sit high up in conifers, which can make them tough to see amid the dense needles. Both the raptor and base are carved from antler. Plumage is patterned with intricate burnishing and breast feathers are from crushed pipestone. Night watch eyes are from pen shell in gold lip shell, while a darling beak is from black lip shell. Including perch, this extraordinary bird is approximately 2" tall, 1" wide and 1 1/4" deep.
