Orthoceras moved around with jet propulsion in ancient Ordovician waters. They were avid hunters who could squirt ink, much like their modern day relative the squid. Abby Quam Panteah's wonderful roadrunner has been carved from one of these fascinating fossil stones. It measures approximately 6" long, 5/8" wide and 1 3/4" tall with little eyes of inlaid turquoise and a lovely crest. Roadrunners are charismatic birds that have a curious nature. These fast feathered friends have an appetite for insect and rodents, helping keep the pest population under control.
