James Panteah's nicely-shaped
Bear seeks tender grasses, insects and leftover juniper berries to eat. His parents are noted carvers Abby and Clayton Panteah. Brother Silvan Panteah is a stone carver as well. They descend from the greater Hustito and Lowsayatee family of Zuni artists. Sculpted from honeycomb calcite, this turquoise-eyed forager is about 3 1/8" long, 1 1/4" wide and 3 1/8" tall. Natural inclusions at the base of the carving resemble Mother Earth's soil a bear journeys through. A colorful offering bundle has golden amber, bright turquoise, lovely red coral, soothing dolomite and fine heishe beads.
