Corn-maiden, full of vitality and strength, is about 2 1/4" tall, 7/8" wide and 1" deep, carved of spring green serpentine by Cody Chavez. She's accented with red coral, jet and turquoise pieces. She watches her world through eyes of inlaid turquoise. Her corn husks grow high, and her hair and corn body are nicely incised. At the center of her body is inlaid a coral, jet, and turquoise sunface. The sunface symbol is seen as a good luck message in Zuni. It represents the balance of earth, air, and water elements that, together, create a life sustaining environment.
