Bison or buffalo on a crisp afternoon. Carved from an invigorating orange alabaster, Brandon Phillips' bovine has turquoise eyes and horns. Sgraffito etching highlights a powerful hump, mane and beard. Bison are a keystone species. Their strong hooves aerate the soil cultivating seeds important to the ecosystem. In Zuni Pueblo, a Buffalo Katsina comes with a Buffalo Maiden during ceremonial dances. About 2 1/2" long, 5/8" wide and 1 1/4" tall.
