Animal: Bat, Material: Jet
This offering is sold.

Long ago, the late autumn season saw a Celtic harvest called Samhain which involved lighting nighttime bonfires. The bright firelight attracted insects that in turn Bats would feed on. Some speculate this was how bats became associated with holidays like Halloween. Bats are beneficial mammals that consume deadly mosquitos. Sculpted from jet, Herbert Halate's turquoise-eyed bat is has lightly etched wings and fur detail plus a cute smile. About 2 1/4" tall, 3" wide and 1 1/8" deep.
