When he was employed at Wright’s Indian Art Gallery in Albuquerque, New Mexico, artist Abraham Peina's mentor was renowned Diné jeweler Alvin Vandever whose pieces were sold there. Inspired by his creative guide, Abraham's dream is to create wearable sculptural pieces from silver and carved stones. We think he's well on his way because each work is flavored with a contemporary sculptural quality. Here, a vibrant heart-shaped lapis lazuli cabochon has gorgeous pyrite flecks, the center piece of this one of a kind sterling silver ring. The reticulated silver band is flowing. The colorful heart station is about 7/8" long by 7/8" wide, while the wavy band is approximately 1/2" wide. Signed by the artist, this fabulous ring is a size 6.
