Zuni carver and jeweler Benina Kallestewa began stone carving back in high school. She'd sit outside with carvers to learn and help. When she was out hauling wood, she'd observe the animals and "imagine how to make them." A Bear was her very first carving which she still has to this day. We're delighted with Benina's latest offering of a happy elephant from alabaster with a lifted trunk and cultured opal inlaid eyes. An elephant's trunk is used for breathing, eating, smelling, drinking and communicating. About 2 5/8" long, 3/4" wide and 2 1/8" tall.
