The Great Basin encompasses most of Nevada, half of Utah and areas of Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon and California where Indigenous Peoples such as the Shoshone, Washo, Paiute and Ute have lived since time began. In prehistoric days, the Great Basin was originally a swamp covered with water from huge lakes formed by melting ice. Today remnants of those vast lakes remain such as the Great Salt Lake, Pyramid Lake and Walker Lake. Dee Edaakie's turquoise-eyed standing Bear has been carved from Great Basin marble. A tiny, non-removable offering necklace is from gorgeous quahog clam shell and turquoise beads. About 2 1/8" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 1 1/4" deep.
