Bernard Laiwakete comes from a great line of Zuni Pueblo carvers: the Mahooty, Lasiloo and Laiwakete families. His son is carver Kenric Laiwakete. Bernard smoothly sculpted a nice Bear
from a fossil stone that's teeming with interesting ancient fragments that resemble gears and working parts. Closely set turquoise eyes express goodwill and a heartline or breath path are inlaid from turquoise. About 2 5/8" long, 5/8" wide and 1 3/8" tall.
