Friendly Alligator

By Daphne & Leland Boone

Animal: Alligator, Material: Nutria Stone
This offering is sold.
Ancient ancestors of alligators and crocodiles roamed Mother Earth during the time of the dinosaurs. Fascinating discoveries of fossilized Cretaceous crocodilians which are related to alligators have been found in the Zuni Basin of New Mexico. We love Daphne and Leland Boone's alligators (or perhaps crocodiles). Their latest offering is sculpted from Indigenous Nutria, a found stone from the Nutria area of the Zuni reservation. It can be either travertine, agate or jasper. Friendly eyes are from turquoise inlays and sgraffito-etching showcases great scale work. About 3 5/8" long, 1 3/8" wide and 7/8" tall.
