Self-taught carver Salvador Romero said the first piece he created was a Bear over 30 years ago. His latest offering is an approximately 3 1/2" long, 7/8" wide and 2" tall gentle bear hewn from a handsome found stone. Bits of desert varnish can be seen on the ear and hip area. Desert varnish is a natural incrustation that formed from microscopic organisms and cemented clay particles.
