Double Magpie House Blessing

Peter Sohappy's delightful magpie house blessing is carved from actinolite and accented with soft sueded leather. Magpies have a tendency to feed on miscellaneous things. Interestingly the term pica, which refers to a human disorder involving a compulsive desire to eat nonfood items, comes from the magpie’s Latin name, Pica pica. The entire length of this lovely sculpture is about 17", while the bird's themselves are roughly 6" long and 1 1/4" wide.
