"Doing With What You're Given"

By Anthony Gchachu

This offering is sold.

Anthony Gchachu is one who finds beauty and potential in unexpected surfaces pushing the boundaries of traditional painting by utilizing unusual canvases like labradorite specimens for a stunning effect. Carver Brian Yatsattie gifted him an intriguing slab of colorful surfite, telling Anthony "Here, do something with this." After moments of contemplation, Anthony's creative juices flowed allowing him to see "a colorful blanket that came to life" on a Zuni elder stargazing. Surfite, an upcycled material from surfboard production, is skillfully adorned with acrylic paints, including both rich gold and silver leaf. Signed by the artist. "Doing With What You're Given" measures about 5" tall, 2 7/8" wide and 3/4" deep. Please click here to listen to Anthony's creative journey.
