The late Dinah Gasper and Peter Gasper, Sr. were renowned for exquisitely carved animal necklaces thoughtfully assembled from a rich assortment of materials chosen with great care and compatibility. An inimitable and irreplaceable multi-animal single strand fetish necklace celebrates their stunning artistry handed down through the Zuni generations.

We see intricately sculpted creatures like tadpoles, Owls, Frogs, Hummingbirds, Turtles, fishes, duck, bushytails (Foxes, Wolves or Coyotes), rams, Mountain-lions, songbirds and Bears. They are masterfully carved from a variety of colorful stones, shells and other organic materials such as spiny oyster shell, mother-of-pearl, calligraphy stone, amber, gold lip mother-of-pearl shell, lapis, turquoise, malachite, dolomite, angel skin coral, sugilite, fossilized ivory, jet, red coral and onyx. They are strung with the finest baby olive heishe beads. Expressive eyes are drilled and filled with either jet paste or a crushed white material, perhaps stone.

The animal's average from about 1/8" to 3/8" long, 1/2" to 1" wide and 1/8" to 3/8" deep. The center turquoise frog that measures about 3/4" long, 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" deep, has jet inlaid nostrils in loving remembrance of her mother, Edna Leki who presented her animals this way. The collectible necklace's length is approximately 34" and comes with the artist's hand-stamped sterling silver signature label attached.
