Daphne and Leland Boone's crested feathered friend, perhaps a jay bird, is carved of a magnificent piece of ruby in zoisite, and has inlaid eyes of red coral. Careful incising marks along the crest and back tease out the feather details in the stone. The stone itself sparkles in the light and is polished to a soft smooth finish. The little bird measures about 1 1/4" long, 1/2" wide by 2 5/8" tall.
