Several of Zuni Pueblo artist Rodney Laiwakete's brothers are fetish carvers. Rodney's latest creation in onyx is an approximate 2 1/2" tall, 2" wide and 5/8" deep turquoise-eyed talkative
Coyote (
Wolf or
Fox). A heartline which represents the breath path is set with sections of colorful turquoise, jet and pipestone. A common reason coyotes start howling is to find a family member and regroup. It's magical to hear them communicating at night.
