Representing a continuum of life and prosperity, Douglas Martza's protective Frog and Dragonfly are nature guides tied to the water and land for the A:Shiwi (Zuni). Turquoise eyes watch over the ancestral village as a cleansing shield against negativity. The amphibian and Pueblo are carved from one portion of rich Picasso marble. The elegant black lip mother-of-pearl dragonfly's etched wings are accented with angel skin coral and turquoise inlays. Exquisite details are seen in the miniature steps, doorways and turquoise beams. Born of life-giving water, the aquatic animals and Pueblo together measure approximately 2 7/8" long, 2 3/8" wide and 1 3/8" tall.
