Christopher Sandoval's turquoise-eyed
Bear has been attentively sculpted from lusciously rich lapis. Christopher's carvings have a graceful flowing form, akin to his father Melvin Sandoval's style, but uniquely his own. Here he has captured the strength of this bear's muscular stance. In Zuni Pueblo a bear is the most prevalent subject of animal fetish carvings. This is due in part, to the fact that a bear is an animal most like humans. Upright bears are viewed as especially strong and healing. About 2 3/8" tall, 1 1/2" wide, 1 3/8" deep.
