The matriarch of the large Quandelacy family, the late Ellen Quandelacy, had a one-of-a-kind talent all her own, from making amazing inlay jewelry to animal carvings. Her horses are super popular, hard to find yet easy to identify, thanks to her singular style. Only after Ellen passed in 2002, did some of her children begin carving horses.
Stewart Quandelacy and Priscilla Lasiloo Quandelacy's reversible Horse pendant necklace is spectacular. Friendly turquoise eyes are inlaid into an iridescent black lip mother-of-pearl shell pony that has a gorgeously carved "naja" on the pendant, which is a unique design the Quandelacy family is known for. They carve this naja right into the shell's center, instead of attaching a metal bale. This style was started by the late Johnny Quam and continued by his daughter Ellen Quandelacy and right down the family line. Strung with a gorgeous, double strand of colorful beads like lapis lazuli, malachite, coral, snowflake obsidian, spiny oyster shell, turquoise and cultured white opal, Stewart and Priscilla's handsome equine pendant necklace is about 27 1/2" long including a convenient silver extension chain. The sweet horse itself is about 2 1/2" wide, 1 1/2" long and 3/8" deep.
