Artist Burt Awelagte is from the greater Othole family of accomplished Zuni Pueblo fetish carvers. Burt's uncle is renowned carver Gibbs Othole. Burt's bashful Bear has been carved from precious Cerrillos turquoise, which is mined in the hills near Santa Fe, NM. Eyes are from turquoise inlays. About 3 1/4" tall, 2" wide and 1" deep.
