Arched Amphibian

By Andrew Quam

Animal: Frog, Material: Pink Mussel Shell
This offering is sold.
Pretty pink mussel shell is opalescent and shimmering like water, a perfect material selection by Andrew Quam for his approximate 2 1/2" wide, 2 1/2" long and 1/2" tall turquoise-eyed and curved Frog. Attractively placed turquoise inlaid spots and webbed feet of inlaid jet accent this wide-smiling amphibian. Andrew descends from the greater Johnny Quam (d), Andrew Emerson Quam (d) and Bossie Quam (d) family of notable Zuni Pueblo artists. Andrew's mother was Rosalia Quam (d) who learned the art from her step-father George Cheechee Haloo (d). She was well-known for stringing bird fetishes and also for her wonderful horse, frog and owl carvings. Rosalia and her husband Andrew Emerson Quam taught Andrew to carve.
