Septarian nodules developed in shallow marine environments, coastal mudflats or lakes millions of years ago. The name septarian comes from the Latin word septum meaning partition, referring to the internal fissures that formed in the gorgeous ancient mud balls. Lynn Quam's mighty Bison has been sculpted from a stunning septarian nodule to a size of approximately 3 1/2" long, 7/8" wide and 2 1/8" tall. Horns and eyes are from turquoise inlays.
