Kateri Quandelacy-Sanchez offers us is this group of four corn maidens and an Owl. Carved from a single specimen of orange calcite with two corn maidens on each side. Below the maidens is a watchful night guardian. The corn maidens, each with glowing faces of overlaid gold lip shell and inlaid red coral accents at their necks, lift their heads and sing prayers of gratitude. Their raptor friend has large eyes of mother of pearl shell and inlaid jet. Kateri added incised Dragonfly and star elements on the sides of the carving which are enhanced with more inlaid coral and turquoise. This powerful gathering measures about 3 1/4" tall, 2 1/2" wide, and 1 1/2" deep.
