The matrix within turquoise is Mother Earth's own abstract art. It provides an important visual anchor to the natural color in the stone blessing it with unique character and soul. Brian Yatsattie's fierce jet-eyed Eagle (or Hawk) is carved from an amazing #8 Mine turquoise specimen lightly seasoned so to speak, with stunning matrix. The #8 Mine located in Nevada gave up some of the finest high-grade turquoise in recent mining history. Since its closure in the 1970s, no new material is coming into the marketplace except for specimens from coveted stashes. About 2 3/4" long, 5/8" wide and 2 1/4" tall.
