Mole has been carved from pipestone which is actually fossilized clay. Long ago while in a wet clay state and before hardening, perhaps it smelled good too. Eyes are from turquoise, while a lovely offering bundle has fresh serpentine, orange spiny oyster shell and turquoise pieces. About 2 3/8" long, 3/4" wide and 3/4" tall.
