The protecting or healing animals of the Six-Directions along with their assigned color according to Zuni Pueblo tradition are represented in Stewart Quandelacy and Priscilla Lasiloo Quandelacy's extraordinary grouping. There is a marble (black) Mole that's the longest animal at 2 1/2", a Zuni travertine (yellow) Mountain-lion, a turquoise (blue) Bear that's that tallest at 1 1/4", a serpentine (many colored) Eagle that's the widest at 3/4", a marble (red) Badger and a marble (white) Wolf. Each animal has expressive eyes from turquoise inlays and offering bundles representing gratitude from a colorful assortment of materials like orange spiny oyster shell, branch red coral and perhaps denim lapis or lapis. The set of 6 skillfully carved pieces is one to hand down to the next generation.
