Indigenous Miwok of Northern California tell an ancient story about Coyote. After making animal life, Creator Coyote summons them to council to talk about the design of human beings. Each animal wants humans to have qualities like themselves which causes a disagreement. Coyote vows that people should have wit and perception the way it does. So each animal styles a human model in their own likeness but overnight Coyote gets rid of the them so that only his prototype comes to life. Kenric Laiwakete's stunning Coyote has been sculpted from labradorite. Eyes and heartlines or breath paths are inlaid with turquoise. The fiery blue areas are breathtaking. About 2 1/2" tall, 3/4" wide and 3" long.
