Most folks at Zuni Pueblo call an Owl the Night Grandfather because he does his work at night. Highly regarded, these engaging nocturnal birds fascinate. Jayne Quam's fish rock serpentine owl is inlaid with nighttime symbols like stars, a crescent moon and other celestial wonders. This mosaic is composed from crushed azurite, lapis, shell, jet, starburst jasper or fossilized jasper, spiny oyster shell, Mojave green turquoise and abalone. Wide-eyes from inlaid turquoise see it all. About 2" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 7/8" deep.
