Traditional Ways Maiden Grandmother

By Troy Sice

Animal: Maiden Grandmother, Material: Antler
This offering is sold.
A Zuni Maiden Grandmother is identified by old-style whorls of hair and is wearing a shawl, signifying she has not had a baby but has mothered many. Sculpted from antler, Troy Sice's Maiden Grandmother has comforting eyes from jet paste and a red coral mouth that speaks of the traditional ways. Etched Dragonflies and star elements are filled with either jet or pipestone paste. Red coral, lapis lazuli and turquoise inlays also adorn elegantly etched clothing. About 2" tall, 3/4" wide and 1/2" deep.
