The heartline is a visual representation of the animal’s breath and has origins in the creation story of both the first stone animal carvings and the first A:Shiwi (The People). A lot of love and attention to detail went into Douglas Martza's creatively carved onyx
Medicine-Bear. A stunning alternating heartline or breath path is from turquoise. The natural sage green, red earth and sunny orange striations are further beautied by intricate etching for fur. Eyes are from turquoise and an offering bundle contains a black lip shell point accompanied by coral, shell and turquoise beads. About 2 5/8" long, 7/8" wide and 2 1/2" tall.
