When artist Silvester Hustito was only 9 years old, he won a prestigious Youth Division award from the Heard Museum in Arizona for a doll scene he created. These days he concentrates on contemporary and abstract paintings done with acrylics that can include a custom splatter technique as well as sponging and stenciling to create interesting textures. His latest acrylic on wood is titled "Baby Bear". The bear's body has a wonderful surface resembling a rich turquoise stone achieved through Silvester's unique treatment of the paints. The original composition's energy is peacefully powerful. The overall dimensions are about 8" by 7 1/2", while the painting itself is approximately 6 1/4" by 5 1/2". Signed by the artist. A metal sawtooth hanger is convenient.
