Bernard Laiwakete comes from a great line of Zuni carvers: the Mahooty, Lasiloo and Laiwakete families. His son is carver Kenric Laiwakete and several of his brothers carve as well. They're known for inlaying gorgeous heartlines often in multiples. Heartlines represent the figurative breath path of an animal carving. An interesting spiral shell limestone Bear is out enjoying the cooler days of late autumn before hibernation calls. Turquoise inlaid eyes take in all of the season's delights such as fresh air, soothing light and new trails. The double heartline presentation from turquoise is stunning. About 2 5/8" long, 5/8" wide and 1 1/2" tall.
