Zuni Pueblo tradition teaches that during the old-days Corn-maidens saved the Zunis from famine and drought by nourishing them with sacred corn kernels from their bodies. Alan Lewis' hand-carved and hand-painted, cottonwood root and acrylic paints, honoring corn maiden stands a tall 9", 2 1/2" wide and 2" deep. Etched and burnished details are seen on her corn body, including hovering Dragonfly friends on her shawl. Signed by the artist. Extra shipping charges may apply.
