Medicine-bears represent healing and getting strong. In nature bears go into a torpor state inside their den or cave to restore themselves. The entrance is usually rounded so medicine bears are carved that way, with rounded backs to symbolize this place of renewal. Paulette and Farlan Quam's Medicine Bear pair is carved from handsome onyx and happy turquoise. The larger bear has turquoise eyes, while the tiny bear has jet eyes. Together they measure about 3" long, 1 3/8" wide and 2 3/4" tall.
