Adrian Cachini's stunning black marble
Turtle is sgraffito treated. Sgraffito means to scratch in Italian. The striking two-tone effect decorates the carapace with a feather or rosette element accented with turquoise inlays. Perhaps a turtle's shell represents a protective barrier symbolizing the ability to retreat and regroup when necessary, good animal medicine. The reptile's sweet eyes are from turquoise inlays as well. Approximately 2" long, 1 3/4" wide and 1/2" tall.
