Indigenous cultures throughout the world have used bone and antler awls for leatherwork, weaponry, sewing and other purposes. Specimens of them have been found dating back to the late archaic period. Peter Sohappy's wonderful awl takes the form of a perched raptor such as a
Hawk carved from
Deer antler with drilled eyes, secured to a length of soft sueded leathers. Including the leather loop, smooth found stone accent and fringed tails, dimensions in their entirety are approximately 12 1/2" long, 2" wide and 1" deep.
