Marvelita Phillips is a Zuni Pueblo artist whose father, the late Leonard Halate, was a renowned carver and jeweler and a prominent figure in Zuni art.. Artistic talent runs in her family—her brother, Herbert Halate, and her son, Brandon Phillips, are both accomplished artists in their own right.
