Evalena Boone is a great carver of Owls this time offered from a wonderful speckled cowry shell with soothing brown, cream and purple hues. The A:Shiwi (Zuni) revere an owl as the Night Grandfather, one who watches over us. A spirit of discernment comes from turquoise eyes inlaid to the round or dorsal face side of the shell. The flat side is called the ventral face which hosts a long and narrow, slit-like opening that is beautifully toothed at the edges.
